God Awful Things

This is sort of grossing me out, and I’m not sure why..  But last night I was talking to Spolans about the errant mystery hair that shows up out of the blue magically maybe an inch long, super fine, just hanging out, blowing in the breeze…

A couple drunken google searches turned up nothing, but since I have today off for memorial day, now I can do some science, and here is what turned up..

OK, seriously. This may be a bit TMI, but anyway… how is it possible for a 1 - 1.5 inch hair to grow out of one’s forehead seemingly overnight?

I shave about three times a week and have black hair, but occasionally I’ll wake up to see a blond hair that’s half an inch long or longer has sprouted out of my face overnight. The same thing has happened on my arms and legs, with much-longer-than-ordinary blond hairs appearing amidst my regular body hair. What’s going on?

There are some pretty funny answers and reading through I didn’t see anyone who claimed to know for sure, but I did stumble across the most likely scenario.  The follicle is damaged and these hairs are actually ingrown, being super fine and there not being an infection you see no outside evidence, but eventually they rupture the skin and KABOOM! huge hair that grew super long overnight.

Okay, now let us never speak of this grossness again.
