The Amazing Internet Pt. 1

February 4th, 2009 --> · No Comments

In college, you got to meet people with similar interests easily as you took classes with them. After college I have felt that it is very difficult to meet people, but the internet, in all of it’s glory, brings people from all over together.  I won’t lie, much of my work day is spent browsing the internet and memorizing wikipedia entries on whatever I can think of, but recently I stumbled into a dark and dangerous part of the internet.  You hear about these areas on the news, like message boards where Al Qaeda posts videos or hacker forums where they swap techniques on identity theft.

Last friday, on a cold and wintery night in Chicago, I stumbled across one of these areas of the internet. After trying to do a little research on the double big gulp, I discovered that 7-Eleven has their own brand of sodas under the Big Gulp label. In my quest I came across the Bevnet message boards.  A place for fans of the carbonated sugar water to converge and discuss the pressing issues.

Are most of your fountain accounts
selling orange 3gal BIB? I have not seen orange crush BIB for
a long,long time.

and the response

We’re getting more distribution every week. Alot of C-stores are replacing Fanta or Sunkist with Crush. All local Pepsi fountain accounts who pour an Orange are pouring Crush. You have to remember that most places only have 6 to 8 valves. Many places around here will hook up Sundrop before Crush on that last valve.

Typos, spelling errors, and grammatical mistakes run as rampant as the bubbles in their soda.

They argue about logos:

What in the hell are you old geezers smoking? You guys do understand that mountain dew has always and will always be for the teen/20 year olds crowd right? All of my friends and various people I’ve asked said that they like the new design. The new design represents mountain dew better than any other previous one because it shows trees in the mountains. Mountain dew hence dew made from the mountains! What else better represents the name of the drink better than showing trees?

Other culinary uses for soda:

How about Cream Soda splashed on Strawberry ice cream?
Or
“Blue Balls” float…….Berry (blueberry) soda pop splashed over
NY Cheese Cake ice cream.

Here in Michigan, Faygo has always been a float staple. Whether you enjoy Redpop (strawberry) or Rock ‘N’ Rye (my favorite), or the traditional Cola or Root Beer, they were always popular. I also liked Black Cherry floats.

What is the best root beer?

My child hood favorite…..Dog & Suds

Adulthood……Dad’s

I’m not into the smaller company Root Beers,I just rather fly commercial. LOL

Strictly the big’s Mr. Zabe.. Strictly the bigs.

Upcoming and unreleased sodas like Sprite Green:

Anyone have an ETA on Sprite Green? I’ve read early 2009, but this article even says Jan. 09
