God Awful Things

Your eyes are lying sacks.. we’ll I guess they aren’t, they just see, transmit the light to your brain, and then your brain becomes a lying sack.. Many years ago I took a color theory class which taught us about how you brain interprets colors, and how one color on different backgrounds can appear to be a different color… or two different colors could look the same and of on.. it hurts the brain really.. I have found the old piece I did for this.. which is quite terrible but, common, this is college work!

Clicking will get you a larger version, but you see what I mean right? How colors are all funky? what? no? You say I failed miserably? Yes, you are right, in this case, you brain is not a lying sack.

Gah, my brain.. it’s frying, see, there is the pink swirl, the green swirl and the blue swirl.. only one of those colors isn’t there… the blue! That is your brain being a lying sack, the blue is actually the exact same color and the green..

I’ll give you a few moments to retrieve your mind from the floor.

This is why I tell people over and over again: you cannot trust what you see even with your own eyes. Your eyes are not cameras faithfully taking pictures of absolute truth of all that surrounds you. They have filters, and your brain has to interpret the jangled mess it gets fed. Colors are not what they appear, shapes are not what they appear (that zoomed image above is square, believe it or not), objects are not what they appear.

So the next time someone swears they saw Jesus, or a UFO, or a ghost, show them this picture. What you see in life is absolutely and provably not what you get.
