God Awful Things

The last time I tripped balls was an intense time.  I was out in Joshua Tree.. Yes, I know that sounds like something right out of Entourage.

“Sure” you say, “We want evidence!”, well fine you grumpy little bastards…

There you have it.  Anyway, here’s what happened….  I had bought some mushrooms from this person who was all “These are reaaaally strong”

“Whatevs” I think, everyone says that.

Around Christmas of that year I gave about 1/16th to a friend of mine, a little while later he comes to me saying “Holy shit, man! What’d you do to me?!”

“Whatevs” I think, “this guy is always fucked up.”

Well, months later I’m out in Joshua Tree for one of our weekend vacation house rental get-a-ways, the sun is getting ready to set and C-Rey and I are all “lets do this”. So we do, then we watch the sun set and all is right in the world, not long later I have that strange sensation of my consciousness pushing on the top of my skull, trying to get out.

“Shit…. These are really strong.”

I warn people that I’m about to trip balls and not to worry, I’ll be fine.  I proceed to walk down by the pull and lay against a rock and watch the sun set.. The breeze is blowing through me and it’s all very amazing.  Soon bats start to fly out of the caves and are skimming the pool water and I’m just like “Hey man, bats are my spirit animal”, you know when you know.

As the sun sets the stars begin to come out, and I’m thinking “Hey man, stars look like bat eyes… cool.” But however cool it was, as more stars came out, more and more bat eyes began looking down at me. “hey man, not cool”, actually I was feeling rather smothered by the universe, how big it is, how little and insignificant I am.  Pretty heavy.

Anyway, the point of this is that NASA has.. oh wait, let me set you up with some music to listen to while you see this..

So NASA, in an event to commemorate Galileo first looking up 400 years ago (1609 for you’s who not do math güd). Has posted some pictures of the heart of the Milky Way.

In this spectacular image, observations using infrared light and X-ray light see through the obscuring dust and reveal the intense activity near the galactic core. Note that the center of the galaxy is located within the bright white region to the right of and just below the middle of the image.
