God Awful Things

It’s been a week since I last posted.. and thats a shame too since neat stuff like researchers  build the biggest quantum object yet [BBC], but so busy at work I can’t even comment on it.. shame too, as existing at two places simultaneously sounds like something I could really get into.

Such states, in which an object is effectively in two places at once, have until now only been accomplished with single particles, atoms and molecules.

I like their opening line:

A team of scientists has succeeded in putting an object large enough to be visible to the naked eye into a mixed quantum state of moving and not moving.

It reminds me of an argument I had with Spolans once about whether it was possible to undrop something, he argues it is impossible, but hey man, maybe the rock was never dropped in the first place on only his looking at it determined it to fall.. who dropped the rock then.. uh… man.
